NSF Presidential Young Investigators Award
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Presidential Young Investigators (PYI) Award was a five-year, no-strings-attached research grant awarded yearly to outstanding young scientists and engineers who, early in their careers, showed exceptional potential for leadership at the frontiers of knowledge. The cornerstone of the program was that NSF funds be matched by private or industrial sources. The last year for the PYI award was 1991, when it became known as the Young Investigators Program
